Why go

Start with the city walls for the shape of the Old Town, or follow Stradun from Pile Gate to Sponza Palace and the Rector’s Palace for its civic life. St Blaise’s Church and the cathedral add the religious story; the old harbour shows why the city faced the sea. These are complementary stops, not a single compulsory circuit.

Useful to know

  • Treat the walls as a substantial walk and choose a few street-level sights for the same day.
  • Group Pile Gate, Stradun and the Luža Square palaces for an easy central combination.

    Stradun (Placa)

Stradun is Dubrovnik's limestone-paved main street and the clearest way to read the Old Town's rebuilt street front. The walk is short; its details reward a slower pace.

    Church of St Saviour

This small church beside the Franciscan Monastery preserves a rare Renaissance exterior from before Dubrovnik's 1667 earthquake. It works well as a brief architectural stop near Pile Gate.
