Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian walkway
The elevated pedestrian route across Brooklyn Bridge passes through stone towers and a web of cables above the East River. It links Manhattan and Brooklyn while opening broad views of the harbor skyline.
Why go
The bridge rewards a walk for the structure as much as the view. From the promenade, the stone arches and cable patterns change as you approach each tower, while boats and the waterfront districts spread out below. Even a partial crossing gives a sense of the river’s width and the engineering that connected two growing cities.
What to look for
Cross at least part of the bridge to frame its stone towers against the harbor skyline.
Useful to know
The route is exposed to rain, heat, cold, and wind; keep to the pedestrian side and allow for crowds.
