Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden
This nonprofit garden occupies a lush valley descending to Onomea Bay. Streams, palms and a coastal boardwalk make it a longer, more varied garden visit than its roadside entrance suggests.
Why go
Palms and other tropical plants grow among natural slopes and watercourses rather than in a flat display garden. The descending path reveals the meeting of cultivated collections, forest and Onomea Bay. The return climb makes the change in elevation part of the visit, and the bay gives the walk a clear destination.
What to look for
Palm collections line the valley paths.
The garden opens toward Onomea Bay.
Useful to know
Allow time for the uphill return from the bay.
Check the current path map before descending.
