Waimea Bay
Waimea Bay sits at the mouth of the valley on Oʻahu’s North Shore. Its broad curve is a fine place to see how seasonal surf transforms a beach.
Why go
The bay is calm-looking in some periods and a major big-wave stage in others. From shore, the beach and headlands make the scale of the surf readable. Do not plan a swim from photographs or season alone; follow the current lifeguard assessment and keep to public access routes.
What to look for
The bay opens at the mouth of Waimea Valley.
Headlands frame the seasonal surf.
Useful to know
Ask lifeguards about current water safety.
Use established public beach access.
