Waimea Valley
Waimea Valley combines a botanical walk with Hawaiian cultural sites on Oʻahu’s North Shore. The valley is a useful inland counterpoint to nearby surf beaches.
Why go
Gardens and interpreted structures reveal that Waimea is a cultural landscape as well as a green one. The path leads deeper into the valley toward a waterfall area. Taking time with the interpretation makes the walk more than a scenic approach, connecting plants and landforms with the people who have lived here.
What to look for
Botanical paths lead inland from the coast.
Interpreted structures reveal Hawaiian land use.
Useful to know
Check the waterfall-area rules.
Leave time for cultural interpretation on the path.
