Why go
Walk the park to understand how Hiroshima marks the destruction of 6 August 1945 across a former neighborhood, rather than at one monument alone. The central memorials, the surviving aogiri tree and the Dome each make a different part of that history visible.
What to look for
- The Cenotaph’s view toward the Atomic Bomb Dome
- Paper cranes at the Children’s Peace Monument
- An aogiri tree that survived the atomic bombing
Useful to know
- Walk the outdoor memorials before or after the Peace Memorial Museum to connect its exhibits with the site.
- Check separate opening information before entering museums or buildings within the park.
