This car-based day connects three views of southwestern Hokkaido's volcanic landscape. Begin at Jigokudani, where steam vents and mineral-coloured ground are best seen on foot. Drive to the northern shore of Lake Toya for a slower lakeside visit. From there, allow about an hour to drive to the Showa-Shinzan ropeway base, board, and ride up to Mount Usu's upper station. The viewpoint brings the lake and crater country together. Allow roughly an hour for the drive from Noboribetsu to the lake as well, and check ropeway and trail conditions before travel. The three visits fit a day, but the two road legs and ropeway leave limited time for detours.

Noboribetsu Jigokudani rewards a visit for steam vents and mineral-coloured rock in the volcanic valley above the onsen. Walkways reveal the active geothermal terrain from several angles. Steam and exposed paths make conditions feel different in wind or rain.
Lake Toya is a volcanic caldera lake with islands and surrounding mountain views. This pin marks the Ukimido northern-shore viewpoint, one specific place to take in the water; cruises and the southern lakeside promenade are separate visits.
Mount Usu offers a ropeway ascent to views of an active volcano and Lake Toya. The pin marks Usuzan Ropeway upper station, beside the summit outlook; the crater-view walk continues beyond it.
