Why go

The compound served the Marine Police from the 1880s until 1996. Its surviving structures reveal a working harbourfront institution beneath the present retail and hospitality use. The Time Ball Tower is especially useful for understanding the site: its original purpose was to communicate time to ships, linking this land-based complex directly to navigation on the water.

What to look for

  • Time Ball Tower among the Victorian buildings
  • Preserved gas lampposts
  • Heritage Hall interpretation of the compound

Useful to know

  • Allow around 45 minutes for the heritage setting, adding dining or shopping time separately.
  • Combine the compound with the Old Kowloon Fire Station and Salisbury Road.
