Église Saint-Nizier
A layered Gothic church near the central Presqu'île shopping streets, recognizable by its elaborate west front and two mismatched towers.
Why go
The façade makes the building easy to read from the street: delicate stonework fills the central portal, while the two towers record different phases of construction. It works especially well as a quiet architectural pause between Rue de Brest, Rue Édouard-Herriot and the Saône.
What to look for
Flamboyant Gothic carving around the west portal
Two towers with visibly different forms
