Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls
Fragmentary Roman walls on the Croix-Rousse slope mark the sanctuary where representatives of the Gallic provinces gathered under imperial rule.
Why go
The remains are modest, but their history is unusually concentrated. This was the setting of the Council of the Gauls and is linked to the Christian martyrs of 177. Reading the surviving curve against the modern neighborhood helps restore the scale of Roman Lugdunum beyond Fourvière.
What to look for

Roman masonry embedded in the present-day slope
Useful to know
Come for historical context rather than an intact amphitheatre.
Combine it with the lower Croix-Rousse slopes and Place des Terreaux.
