From the Lyon World / Areas
Rue du Président-Édouard-Herriot
A long Presqu'île axis lined with nineteenth-century façades and established shops, linking the Terreaux area directly with Jacobins and Bellecour.
Why go
Walk it to compare the formal urban planning of central Lyon with the tighter streets nearby. The route passes close to several major squares and lets architecture and shopping share the same outing, although the retail mix is more conventional than the neighborhood character of Croix-Rousse.
What to look for
Regular nineteenth-century stone façades
Easy links to Terreaux, Jacobins and Bellecour
Useful to know
Visit during daytime business hours if shopping matters.
Use parallel Rue de Brest for a slightly different return route.
