South Coast Temples and Sea Arches
Read the megalithic architecture of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra before continuing to Blue Grotto, keeping the cliff view as the dependable anchor when boat conditions change.
Why go
Start at Ħaġar Qim and give the visitor interpretation enough time to explain the stone buildings before walking down toward Mnajdra. The two temple complexes belong together, but the exposed path means this is more demanding than a pair of city museums. Continue by road to Blue Grotto for a different view of the same southern coast. Treat the land viewpoint as the main stop and a boat trip as a weather-dependent choice. The progression from megalithic temple chambers to sea arches gives the day a clear architectural and landscape focus.

Times are planning estimates. Unknown visit durations start at an editable 30 minutes; access is checked separately.
A prehistoric temple complex whose immense limestone slabs, broad forecourt and chamber plan are best understood alongside nearby Mnajdra on Malta’s southern coast.
A megalithic complex near Ħaġar Qim where three conjoined temples, hard coralline limestone and careful solar alignments reward close looking on the coast.
Blue Grotto combines a large coastal arch with sea caverns near Wied iż-Żurrieq, giving you a worthwhile land outlook and a separate boat experience when conditions allow.
