Lord Elgin Hotel
The Lord Elgin Hotel is a 1940s limestone landmark facing Confederation Park. Its public role is secondary to its function as an operating hotel, making the exterior the reliable visit.
Its limestone facade helps complete the 1940s civic streetscape facing Confederation Park without requiring a hotel visit. It adds a mid-twentieth-century note to a streetscape often read only through older Parliament and canal landmarks. Look at the hotel from Confederation Park to see its limestone frontage in relation to the open square, rather than planning an unnecessary interior stop in a working hotel.
What to look for
The limestone facade faces the planted edge of Confederation Park.
Useful to know
Use the Confederation Park side for an exterior view without entering the hotel.
