Victoria Tower Bell
The bell from the former Victoria Tower rests on Parliament Hill after surviving the 1916 Centre Block fire. Its fractured angle makes the destruction and rebuilding of Parliament immediately legible.
Set the damaged bell against the rebuilt Centre Block nearby to see two chapters of one parliamentary site at once. The object makes a dramatic historical rupture tangible without needing to enter a building; it pairs naturally with the rebuilt stone facade nearby.
What to look for
The old bell rests at a fractured angle near the rebuilt block.
Useful to know
Combine the bell with the nearby Centre Block exterior to understand the fire and rebuilding.
