Why go
Two days allow the waterfront to remain more than a passing view. Give the Nieuwe Maas, Erasmusbrug and the towers of Kop van Zuid one day, then use the second for Nieuwe Instituut, de Doelen or Kunsthal and the rebuilt centre. This sequence moves from Rotterdam’s river geography to the institutions that interpret its cultural and architectural life. Oceanium and Diergaarde Blijdorp are a substantial alternative if a zoo day matters more than another cultural stop.
Useful to know
- Keep Museumpark venues together rather than crossing the city repeatedly between individual visits.
- Choose either Diergaarde Blijdorp and Oceanium or the longer architecture sequence for the second day.
- Reserve a harbour cruise for a separate time block; its departure point and duration can reshape the day.
