Why go

This selection suits a first visit focused on the physical city rather than a long museum circuit. Begin around the Nieuwe Maas, then cross Erasmusbrug to Kop van Zuid, where the waterfront towers show the scale of later development. Continue at an unhurried pace so the changing views have time to register. End at Euromast if conditions are clear. The port is best treated as a separate cruise or tour choice, not squeezed into this central day.

Useful to know

  • Keep the riverfront, Erasmusbrug and Kop van Zuid as the core; make Euromast optional if you prefer a slower walk.
  • Do not attempt to combine a central waterfront circuit with Europoort or Maasvlakte on foot.
  • Use public transport for the return from the southern bank if weather or walking time changes the plan.
