Melchor de Prado designed the building erected between 1769 and 1805 on a former Jesuit site. Its scale and columns signal the university’s civic role; the auditorium, courtyard and terraces are accessible only through suitable university visit arrangements. A guided university visit can add the interior rooms, but the public facade already conveys its scale.
