Capitol Hill Art and Arboretum Paths

Pair the Frye Art Museum with Cal Anderson Park and Volunteer Park, then continue through Seattle Asian Art Museum, the Arboretum, and Seattle Japanese Garden.

Capitol Hill Art and Arboretum Paths

Why go

This route is for travelers who prefer a day balanced between galleries and designed landscapes. Begin with the Frye Art Museum as an optional indoor start, then cross Cal Anderson Park before spending more time in Volunteer Park and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. The second half shifts toward plant collections and composed scenery at Washington Park Arboretum and Seattle Japanese Garden. Allow a separate transfer between the Volunteer Park and Arboretum clusters rather than treating the whole day as one continuous walk. If energy is limited, choose either the Frye or the Japanese Garden and keep the four essential stops at a comfortable pace.
