Why go
This northern beaches day uses the ferry as a scenic beginning and keeps the route focused on one peninsula. Walk from Manly Wharf through the Corso to the ocean beach, then continue along the easy shore path to Shelly Beach. North Head is the demanding final section, with exposed tracks and a substantial climb or transfer. Manly and Shelly are essential; shorten the headland loop if heat, wind or fading daylight reduces its value. Swimming is optional and must follow current patrol, surf and aquatic-reserve guidance.
