Temple of the Initial Series
Visit the Temple of the Initial Series for the story of Tulum's earliest known dated inscription. This modest structure adds chronological depth to an otherwise later-looking coastal city.
A stele once kept here records a date earlier than the period represented by most visible buildings. That makes the temple useful for visitors interested in how archaeologists read a city's past, even if its architecture is less imposing than El Castillo. Find it on the ruins circuit and view it from the allowed path.
