Real Parroquia de los Santos Juanes
Step inside to compare a medieval church core with a richly Baroque interior, then look back from the market square for its sculptural rear façade.
Why go
Santos Juanes adds sacred art to the market quarter’s civic and commercial monuments. The blocked Gothic rose window records the earlier church, while the later exterior centers on the Virgin of the Rosary and the interior vault carries Antonio Palomino’s expansive fresco cycle above a gilded altar.
What to look for
The blocked Gothic oculus, called the O de Sant Joan, survives from the earlier church.
Palomino’s frescoes spread across the Baroque interior vault.
A small weather vane known as the Bird of Sant Joan crowns the market-facing façade.
Useful to know
Check the official cultural-visit timetable because worship can change visitor access.
