Oratorio dei Pellegrini
The small Oratorio dei Pellegrini on Via San Francesco preserves fifteenth-century frescoes associated with hospitality for pilgrims. Its scale makes it an intimate art stop between the centre and the basilica.
This small chapel was built for pilgrims using the neighbouring hostel, and its compact frescoed interior preserves that purpose. Look at the cross vault and the painted walls by Matteo da Gualdo and Pierantonio Mezzastris. It offers a close-scale Renaissance art visit along the street between Piazza del Comune and the Franciscan basilica.
What to look for
Fifteenth-century frescoes cover the small chapel’s walls and cross vault.
