Museu Tàpies
Museu Tàpies brings Antoni Tàpies's work into a former publishing house in the Eixample. The building and the artist's façade sculpture make this a visit about architecture as well as art.
Why go
Tàpies founded the institution in 1984 to encourage study of modern and contemporary art, and its collection grew largely from donations by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies. The former Montaner i Simon publishing house adds a distinct early Modernista setting of brick and iron. Look up before entering: Tàpies's sculptural work on the façade announces that the building is part of the encounter.
What to look for
Tàpies's sculptural work crowns the façade of the former publishing house.
Exposed brick and iron mark the building's early Modernista design.
The collection includes works donated by Antoni and Teresa Tàpies.
Useful to know
