Why go
Walk the porticoes and look back toward the centre to see the square’s nineteenth-century design as a whole. The two lamps are an early public work by Gaudí, a small detail easily missed among the palms and terraces. It is a natural pause between La Rambla and Palau Güell rather than a visit needing an appointment.
What to look for
- The Three Graces fountain in the centre.
- The two Gaudí-designed lamps with dragon and helmet motifs.
- Palms framed by the surrounding porticoes.
Useful to know
- Step in from La Rambla and circle the square for different views of the lamps.
- Combine it with Palau Güell on Carrer Nou de la Rambla.
