Why go
This route suits visitors who want to follow Bergen’s coastal story beyond Bryggen. Begin among the old warehouse buildings at the Norwegian Fisheries Museum, then compare that industry with the modern fish farming explained at Storeblå. Continue north to Old Bergen Museum, where relocated wooden houses form a different picture of city life. The three main visits make a manageable day along the northern waterfront. Stoltzekleiven is an optional steep climb for fit walkers in good conditions; it changes the effort considerably. Check each museum’s current access, and skip the climb if the steps are wet or the day is already full.
