Hohenzollern Bridge
Walk beside Cologne's trains across the Rhine for close views of the cathedral, river and love locks. This is a short, exposed crossing rather than a quiet riverside stroll.
The bridge joins the cathedral side of Cologne to Deutz while trains pass within sight of pedestrians. Love locks line the railings, but the stronger reason to cross is how the city skyline changes over the water. Continue to the Deutz bank for a broad view back toward the cathedral and Old Town.
What to look for
Trains run across six tracks beside the pedestrian routes.
Love locks cover sections of the bridge railings.
The cathedral and Rhine appear from shifting angles along the crossing.
Useful to know
Cross to the Deutz riverfront for a wider cathedral panorama.
Allow for wind and noise on the exposed bridge, especially if you intend to linger for photos.
