Why go
The plaza’s regular seventeenth-century building fronts are striking after Córdoba’s tighter lanes. Enter through the arches and the scale suddenly opens out. Its past as a bullring and marketplace explains both the generous central space and the active ground-floor edges.
What to look for
- Arcaded façades frame the large rectangular open space.
- The Arco Alto and Arco Bajo provide distinctive entrances.
- Older buildings interrupt the otherwise regular fronts.
Useful to know
- Walk across the centre, then look back at the arcades to read the full shape.
- Use it as a pause between the old centre’s narrower streets.
