Simón Bolívar Monument
A statue of Simón Bolívar on Scharlooweg marks Curaçao’s ties with Venezuela and its independence history. The small square makes a focused stop while exploring Scharloo.
The monument gives the island’s relationship with nearby Venezuela a visible public form. Contemporary wreath-laying ceremonies show that the figure still carries meaning beyond its historical setting. Pause to look at the sculpture and its square, then connect the stop with the surrounding Scharloo streets rather than planning a lengthy standalone visit.
