Why go
This route gives first-time visitors a focused day around Cologne’s cathedral and river. The cathedral and Museum Ludwig sit beside each other, making it easy to move from Gothic architecture to modern art without a long transfer. The Hohenzollern Bridge then opens the river portion of the walk. Continue south along the Rhine to the Chocolate Museum for a more playful final visit. The last walk is longer than the central stops, so leave enough time for it and keep the museum visits measured. All four stops can fit in one day without crossing the city repeatedly.
