Why go
This route works for visitors who want both Munich’s historic centre and a hands-on museum day. Begin with the Residenz while your attention is fresh, then make two shorter stops at Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. The walk to the Deutsches Museum leads to a longer indoor visit, so keep that as the afternoon anchor. The Englischer Garten is optional: reaching the park from the museum takes a longer walk, and it is best added only if you still want time outdoors. Leaving it out keeps the essential route comfortably paced.
