Why go

A bamboo-and-wood church stood here before 1560, and later rebuildings produced the present twentieth-century appearance. Portuguese community weddings gave it the Chinese name Church of Flowers. Its location makes a gentle link between the busy St Paul’s streets and the quieter Camões area. Treat it as an active church and enter only when visitors are welcome.

What to look for

  • Church facade on Santo António Square
  • Long religious continuity beneath a later exterior

Useful to know

  • Combine it with Camões Park and Casa Garden.
