Why go
The church is a visible link between Binondo's Chinese community and its Catholic history. Founded by Dominicans to serve Chinese converts, it is also closely associated with Lorenzo Ruiz, the Filipino saint whose name the facing plaza bears. Seeing the church and square together gives a firmer sense of the district than either landmark alone.
What to look for
- View the church from Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz to understand its civic setting.
- Look for the bell tower and surviving older fabric beside later rebuilding.
Useful to know
- Check parish information before planning to enter or attend worship.
- Visit the plaza and surrounding Binondo streets as part of the same stop.
- Be considerate of services and prayer if the church is open.
