Bahia Palace
Bahia Palace is a sequence of courtyards, gardens and decorated rooms in the southern medina. It rewards visitors who want close detail rather than the monumental emptiness of El Badi.
Why go
Move from one courtyard to the next and watch how carved wood, tile and painted surfaces change with the size of each space. The palace’s domestic scale makes its craft easier to study than at a vast ruin. Its position between the Mellah and Dar Si Said helps form a compact architectural walk without repeated crossings of the medina.
What to look for
Painted ceilings and carved wood frame several rooms.
Courtyards and planted spaces interrupt the enclosed interiors.
Useful to know
Visit with Dar Si Said or the Mellah as part of one southern-medina walk.
