From the Rhodes World / Itineraries

Rhodes: ancient sites and medieval streets

Rhodes combines the fortifications and museums of its old city with ancient sites farther afield, including Lindos. The vanished Colossus belongs to the island’s history rather than a present-day sightseeing stop.

Why go

The Palace of the Grand Master and the Street of the Knights explain the fortified city, while the Acropolis of Lindos opens the older island story. These are different outings, not a continuous walk: combine nearby Old Town sites on one day and give Lindos its own coastal trip.

Useful to know

  • Keep Old Town sights together; plan Lindos as a separate journey from Rhodes city.
  • Read about the vanished Colossus for context, but do not plan a statue visit.
