Why go
This is a measured archaeology day for visitors who want more than a quick pass through Sukhothai's central ruins. Wat Si Chum offers a memorable Buddha image at the beginning. Continue into Sukhothai Historical Park to follow the wider landscape of walls, ponds and surviving monuments, reserving the final stop for Wat Mahathat within the park. Treat the broader park stop as circulation and other ruins so its time does not duplicate the close look at Wat Mahathat. The route is entirely outdoors and best taken slowly, with water and pauses between its three essential visits.

Sukhothai Historical Park
Sukhothai Historical Park preserves a broad walled landscape of temples, palace traces and old waterworks. Its many dispersed monuments make it a bicycle or extended walking destination, not one building.

Wat Mahathat, Sukhothai
At the heart of Sukhothai Historical Park, Wat Mahathat gathers a lotus-bud chedi and surrounding stone prangs into a formal ruin. Its design is a clear expression of Sukhothai style.
