Amsterdam Route

This route connects the Jordaan and canal belt with sites of memory, churches, museums and evening venues, balancing reflective stops with Amsterdam's western cultural life.

Amsterdam Route

Why go

Start with Anne Frank House, Westerkerk and Homomonument, three close landmarks that bring the Jordaan's religious, wartime and LGBTQI+ histories into view. Continue through the Negen Straatjes or Jordaan lanes, then choose an evening focus: Paradiso, Melkweg, DeLaMar or Stadsschouwburg. Amstelkring Museum and the Diamond Museum belong to different parts of the centre, so they work better as alternatives than compulsory additions. Keep the route selective; the strongest version pairs one history-led interior with a walk and one performance venue.
