Loggia of the Comacine Masters
On Via San Francesco, the Loggia dei Maestri Comacini recalls the medieval builders who worked in Assisi. Its modest exterior is a short architectural stop on the walk between town and basilica.
Look closely at the medieval house façade on Via San Francesco: a compass, square and mallet carved into stone identify the builders behind the loggia’s name. These work symbols make a brief exterior stop unusually specific. Find it on Via San Francesco between the central square and the Basilica of Saint Francis; there is no public interior tour.
What to look for
The Loggia dei Maestri Comacini is named after the building professionals who worked there during the Middle Ages.
