Why go
Begin in Lustgarten, using the façades of Berlin Cathedral, Altes Museum and the reconstructed palace to understand the island's urban setting. Choose one major museum for a full interior visit; the Neues Museum and Bode-Museum each require enough attention to stand alone. Continue outside through the ensemble rather than trying to complete every collection. Finish at Humboldt Forum, whose reconstructed Baroque exterior and modern cultural programme create a useful contrast with the older museums. Pergamonmuseum remains a construction site, so verify access to every institution before travel and treat the architectural walk as the reliable spine of the day.
