Cabot Tower
Cabot Tower stands on Brandon Hill above central Bristol. Its exterior and park setting remain worth a walk, but the tower climb should wait until the council confirms it has reopened.
Built in the late nineteenth century to mark John Cabot's voyage from Bristol, the tower ties a city view to a maritime story. Even from the hill, its stone form gives a focal point above the streets. The upper viewing platforms would add a wider panorama when public climbing resumes.
What to look for
The tower rises from the green slopes of Brandon Hill.
Its design commemorates John Cabot's voyage in the Matthew.
Park paths give views around the city from the hill.
Useful to know
Plan for a Brandon Hill walk, not a tower climb, until reopening is confirmed.
Expect an uphill approach through the park.
Check the council's Brandon Hill page before travelling for the viewing platforms.
