Museum of Asian Art of Corfu
Explore Chinese, Japanese and other Asian collections inside the Palace of St. Michael and St. George. The art offers an indoor visit with a second layer of interest in the palace rooms.
Why go
The museum began with Gregorios Manos's East Asian collection and grew to include works from India and other regions. Moving among porcelain, prints, sculpture and armour reveals those different traditions within a single visit. The grand staircase and state rooms also let you experience the British-era palace from inside.
What to look for
Chinese porcelain and Japanese prints show contrasting materials and visual traditions.
Samurai armour and Noh masks add a theatrical and martial dimension to the Japanese displays.
The palace staircase and rooms are part of the museum visit.
Useful to know
Use the palace exterior as an orientation stop, then enter the museum for its collection and rooms.
Leave time for more than one gallery so the Chinese, Japanese and South Asian holdings do not blur together.
