Why go

This downtown walk suits visitors who enjoy parks, large public buildings and a gradual change of street scene. Start slowly at Discovery Green, then cross to the George R. Brown Convention Center to look at its exterior and Avenida frontage. The Toyota Center is an optional exterior detour; attending an event requires a separate plan. Continue to GreenStreet for its dining and entertainment setting, checking a tenant before making a dedicated stop. Finish at Market Square Park for a different view of downtown. Leave room for pauses outdoors, and shorten the optional detour in hot weather.
