Archbishop’s Palace of Lima
This twentieth-century palace beside Lima Cathedral adds carved balconies to the Plaza Mayor ensemble. Its exterior is the clear draw when interior access is uncertain.
Look up at the palace’s cedar balconies and ornate facade, then compare them with the cathedral next door. Although it fits the historic square, the present building opened in the 1920s. That later date makes it a useful example of Lima’s revival of colonial architectural forms.
