Why go
Start in Alfama at Lisbon Cathedral, then climb to Castelo de São Jorge and continue to São Vicente de Fora. For the later sequence, choose either the Ponte 25 de Abril–Cristo Rei pairing or the central route from Avenida da Liberdade through Restauradores to Santa Justa Lift. Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and São Bento Palace are alternatives, not automatic additions. This keeps the day realistic while preserving the inherited route’s contrast between old hills, civic Lisbon and wider views.

Ponte 25 de Abril
Treat Lisbon’s red suspension bridge as a city-scale landmark to view from the riverbanks, not as a bridge deck open for sightseeing.

Museu Calouste Gulbenkian
Pick this museum for a collector-shaped journey from ancient cultures to European decorative arts, with a landscaped park providing a quieter setting beyond central Lisbon.
