Museo de Arte Precolombino
This Cusco museum presents pre-Columbian works from across Peru in focused galleries. It is a useful indoor counterpoint to the Inca stonework seen around the city.
Why go
The collection draws on the Museo Larco and moves through cultures and materials rather than limiting itself to Cusco. That makes it a good place to compare ceramic, textile and other artistic traditions before or after visiting regional archaeological sites. Plaza Nazarenas places it near the historic streets between Cusco's central square and San Blas.
What to look for
Ten galleries organize works by culture and material.
The displayed pieces come from the Museo Larco collection.
The museum occupies a historic building on Plaza Nazarenas.
Useful to know
Combine the museum with a walk through Plaza Nazarenas and nearby historic streets.
Allow time for the galleries rather than making it a quick stop between monuments.
