Ruskin School of Art
Oxford's Ruskin School of Art traces its beginnings to John Ruskin's drawing school of 1871. It is a working school across separate sites, so visits require prior arrangement.
The Ruskin matters for Oxford's artistic teaching rather than as a casual gallery stop. Its original aim joined drawing with practical craft, and the school later broadened into fine art. The former High Street address is part of that history, but current teaching is at other sites; arrange any visit directly with the school.
Useful to know
Contact the school in advance if you have a reason to visit a teaching site.
Treat 74 High Street as a historic exterior, not an entrance to a public exhibition.
