Capuchin Catacombs
The Capuchin Catacombs preserve burial galleries beneath a convent west of the old center. This is a distinctive but somber visit, best approached with time and care.
Why go
The galleries reflect a long local burial practice and display historical clothing as well as human remains. Their impact is quite different from Palermo’s churches and museums, so make a deliberate choice before going. The site sits outside the tight central walking circuit.

Check current access before going; the available source does not establish a dependable visiting schedule.
Treat the catacombs as a separate westward stop from the dense old-city cluster.
