Old Town gates, square and Cubist design

Why go

This compact walk suits a first look at Prague's historic centre, especially if you like comparing buildings from different periods. Begin at the Powder Tower and Municipal House, then continue to the House of the Black Madonna for its Cubist design. Cross to Old Town Square for the Astronomical Clock and a brief look at Kinský Palace's Rococo façade from the square; its interior is closed. Give the clock and square time instead of rushing between façades. The Church of Our Lady before Týn is optional if you would rather spend longer at the Cubist house or take a slower pause on the square.
