Why go
Few central churches show Salzburg's long building history so clearly in one view. The low, shadowed nave opens into a much taller Gothic choir, while later chapels and the high altar add Baroque interventions. That contrast makes the church a useful companion to the Cathedral and Collegiate Church rather than another interchangeable interior.
What to look for
- A dark Romanesque nave opens into a soaring Gothic choir.
- Later Baroque chapels and altar work sit within the older structure.
Useful to know
- Enter quietly outside services and look back from the choir to see the strongest spatial contrast.
