Why go
This is a hillier walk for visitors who want Byzantine art, lived-in upper streets and a broad view at the end. The churches are close enough to visit in a gradual ascent, with Hosios David’s small interior rewarding a slower pause. Vlatadon Monastery provides a different setting before the city opens out at Trigonion Tower. Heptapyrgion is an optional continuation for those with time and energy; the main route ends at the viewpoint. Wear suitable shoes for the climb, and check access at churches and the monastery before setting out. Outdoor viewpoints are best saved for clear weather.
