Puerta de Alfonso VI
Puerta de Alfonso VI is the earlier Bisagra gate, with horseshoe arches on the northern approach. It shows an older entrance beside Toledo’s more familiar monumental gate.
The gate preserves a different stage of the city’s defenses. Its arches and older form make a useful comparison with the later, more ceremonial Bisagra entrance nearby. Reading the two together shows how a northern approach could be reshaped while the need to control movement into Toledo remained.
